Join our Capital Area Water Ski Club Practice Sessions
If you are an open water skier that would like to transition to the world of competitive slalom skiing, our summer ski league practice series is just for you!
You will have a chance to practice and learn how to run the slalom course, (or mini slalom course) on private, certified competition ski lakes for only $15/set.
In an effort to increase participation in our summer tournaments series, and grow the sport of competitive water skiing, we have added a “Summer Ski League” designed to help the recreational skier make the transition from the open water to the world of competitive skiing!
2025 will be our 13th year of running the ski league!
Who:
Slalom or Trick Skiers capable of getting up and crossing the wake with confidence who want to test themselves on the mini course, slalom course, or learn new ski tricks. One of our main goals with these practice sessions is to give skiers access to the local slalom courses who wouldn’t otherwise have it. All skill levels are welcome, if you can get up out of the water & feel comfortable crossing the wakes.

What:
Ski on glass……smooth water on private ski lakes with certified competition courses using powerful inboard competition ski boats with computerized GPS speed control. You will get one set which is 6 passes through the course or 15 minutes (whichever comes first), 2 sets if there is time. Receive instruction from seasoned tournament skiers. Make ski friends and training buddies!
When:
Wednesday evenings 5:30pm-dusk. May through September.

Where:
Sessions will rotate per the calendar above across three private ski lakes: Frameswitch (near Hutto), San Marcos River Ranch (near Martindale), and Austin Aquaplex (near Buda). Click on the site names for Google maps. An email will be sent out to all interested parties before each event outlining exactly what lake and dock we will be meeting at that evening.
How:
Reserve a spot on our appointment calendar, up to two weeks in advance.
Requirements:
For liability reasons, skiers must pay for USA Water Ski coverage, by being a USAWS Member.
- A year-long Grass Roots membership is only $45
- Standard Active memberships ($90 for individual, $60 if under 25, $190 for family)
- *Single Day guest registration
To ski, you must also be a member of the Capital Area Water Ski Club. ($25 new individual)
Fees:
- Per ski ride fee: $15 for 6 passes through the course or 15 minutes (whichever comes first)
- Pay Via Paypal on the Appointment selection page
- Covers gas, boat usage, & lake access
* subject to change based on gas prices etc. (maximum 2 ski rides per night)
