Junior Development
Teaching the next generation
Capital Area Water Ski Club is an organization that is committed to providing safe and enjoyable water skiing in the Austin area. We are especially proud of and enjoy our involvement with the youth of this community. We hope to continue to touch the future with our programs.
CAWSC works with the ski sites and our sponsors in the Austin area to provide quality water ski instruction. We are required by the American Water Ski Association to use certified instructors, boat drivers, and safety personnel. These clinics are offered 2 to 3 times each year, at various locations, to junior club members (ages 5 -16). We keep our clinic size small to provide as much individual instruction as possible. Our clinics are also open to children who are not club members. We accept participants who have been recommended by our sponsors, club members, or community organizations. We help our participants better their skiing skills, but also promote their confidence and self-esteem. Tournaments. CAWSC participates in the Capital Area Summer Series that provides competitive water skiing in all three disciplines: slalom, trick, and jump. This series of tournaments includes skiers from the novice level through the national tournament level. A junior skier can receive much needed local tournament experience in a supportive environment. The junior skier also has the opportunity to compete on his or her level. Most local tournaments are not grouped by age, but by skiing ability. This unique format lets the skier learn to compete not only within an ability group, but also against his/her past best performance.
Scholarships. CAWSC is a recognized club in the AWSA South Central Region. Our juniors benefit from this membership. The region provides ski scholarships every year. A junior must request an application from the Regional Junior Development Committee each year. The Capital Area Water Ski Club also provides scholarships each year as well. Typically the scholarships are $300 each and must be used strictly for coaching. Click here to apply for the CAWSC scholarship opportunity.
Club. We are an organization that prides itself on building water skiing skills from the beginner through the national competitive level. Contact with other junior skiers promotes camaraderie and team spirit. Families of junior skiers benefit from sharing experiences from tournaments, to practice, to equipment buying.
